On Monday, a New York man was pleaded convict to threatening to murder United States Rep. Ilhan Omar in March, said prosecutors.
The 55-year-old Patrick W. Carlinoe of Addison, a village located southwest of Ithaca, pleaded guilty to threatens to strike and murder the US official, and being a felon in possession of firearms, said the US Attorney Office for the Western District of New York in a statement.
Mr. Carlineo might face a maximum of 10-years imprisonment and a fine up to $250000. His sentence is scheduled for February 14.
He was detained in April for the phone call on March 21 to the offices of Omar, a noted Democrat who represents Minnesota.
Over the phone call, has enquired about the Muslim Brotherhood, called her a “terrorist” and said that “somebody ought to put a bullet in her skull,” said the prosecutor’s office.
Rep. Ilhan Omar is one of the first two women from the Muslim Community, got elected to US Congress.
The staff member who reported the phone call recalled that he was quoted saying, “I’ll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull,” said the US attorney office.
Sonya Zoghlin, his attorney, has said in an email to The Associated Press that Mr. Carlineo never amid harming Omar.
