On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry has summoned a top American diplomat over the passing of a Hong Kong Rights Bill by the Senate, warns of “strong” countermeasures should be taken if the legislation is signed into law against the United States of America.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu urges William Klein to start a “strong protest”, said the ministry in a statement. Mr. Klein is American Embassy Minister Counsel for Political Affairs.
It continued that “we strongly urge the US side to immediately take effective measures to prevent this bill from becoming law” and stop interfering in the internal affairs of China.
“Otherwise, the Chinese side will take strong measures to resolutely counter it, and the US side must bear all the consequences,” added the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
