On Monday, Hong Kong Police have shot and critically injured protesters during the rising violent anti-government demonstrations across the island, informed authorities.

The protesters underwent medical surgery at Pamela Youde Netersole Eastern Hospital in Hong Kong’s Chan Wai District, said the hospital sources. However, no detail information about the injured victim was available.

Hong Kong Police has confirmed that “one male was shot” when police personnel fired his service weapon during several protests across the island because of the rioter’s sizeable illegal acts.

They did not inform where the shooting took place but at least three gunshots were heard in Sai Wan Ho, Northeastern Hong Kong at 7:30 AM.

On Monday, Hong Kong Police has also scheduled a news conference.

Several anti-government protests have disturbed the island for around six months, demonstrations started from June as a number of protests triggered by an extradition bill, which was withdrawn later.

The protests have since broadened to include calls for greater democratic freedoms amid tensions of increasing control over the territories by China.

On Friday, a college student was the first one to die in the increasing protests, four-days after he fell in a multi-storied parking lot as police used tear gas on protesters on the island.
